Opal Clarene Lillie

Opal Clarene Lillie, age 73, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2022.

Opal was born on April 16, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas, to Alfred and Laverne (Traylor) King. She graduated Tascosa High School and then attended Cypress Junior College. In 1967, she married George Lillie.

Back in the day, she worked for May Company and once retired, she helped raise a village. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, reading, word search puzzles, and, most importantly, playing with her great grandchildren. Opal cared for other children while also taking care of her own. She was a mother figure to all. She had the most loving and caring soul to which no one can ever compare. Opal always put others first before her own well-being and was the rock of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Laverne King, brother, Larry King, and sister, Andy King.

Opal is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, George Lillie, daughter, Susan Carter and husband, Dave, grandson, Josh Lillie, granddaughter, Ashley O’Brien and husband, Walter, granddaughter, Amber, great grandchildren, Damien, Dannie, Autumn, and Olivia, brother, David King and wife, Nita, and sister, Kaye Goss and husband, Stan.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
