Mike Gruetzner’s fight came to an end on March 26, 2022 peacefully at his home.  For those of us that knew Mike we knew he fought with a smile and determination. He is now in heaven enjoying maybe a beer or two with his family and friends that went before him.

Michael “Mike” Edward Gruetzner was born at St. David’s in Austin, Texas on February 2, 1954, to Uce and Jeri Gruetzner. He was the oldest of the five children. Mike was a cherished member of the Class of 1972 who will greatly miss him.

Mike worked as an insurance claims adjuster, with Texas Farm Bureau, for 25 years before enjoying his retirement. His pride and joy was always his daughter, Stacey; they shared a very special bond. Stacey was a daddy’s girl. Mike was also one proud grandpa to his grandsons, Zane and Major.

Everyone could see the unbreakable bond between this father and daughter.  They came to enjoy weekly trips to El Maguey for happy hour socializing with friends. This soon became something everyone looked forward to and enjoyed.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, August Edward “Uce” and Geraldine “Jeri” Gruetzner.

Mike is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 47 years, his loving daughter, Stacey and husband, Clint, grandson, Zane, stepchildren, Sandy and Rusty, grandson, Major and wife, Brooke, great grandchildren, Saige and Landon, brothers, Glenn and wife, Carol, Bryan and wife, Rita, Chris and wife, Christy, sister Cynthia, special cousin, Wes Henderson, and numerous other family members and beloved friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.

Arrangements entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
