Lowell Eugene Schorr

Our beloved father, Lowell Eugene Schorr, of Elgin, Texas, passed away at the age of 79, on February 10, 2022, at his home. Lowell was born on December 11, 1942 in Cardington, Ohio to Paul and Ruth Schorr.

He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Ruth Schorr, brothers Robert Schorr and Ronald Gene Schorr.

He graduated from Elgin High School and attend Nixon-Clay College. He worked over 30 years in banking, 18 years at IRS, 10 years with the Texas Health Department, and several years at Rylanders, D Company, and Town and Country. He was the last charter member of the Elgin Lion’s Club, Board Member of Elgin Little League Association, Umpire, Order of Arrow, Cub Master, Boy Scout leader, Elgin Quarterback Club member, ran chains at Elgin High School Football games, advent UT Lady Longhorn fan, and held several positions at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was a choir member.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Schorr; sisters, Joyce Henze, Marilyn Ferguson, and Becky Parker; his son and daughter in law, Ron & Donna Schorr of Midlothian Texas; daughters and son in laws, Lisa & Robert Ramirez, Lana & Howard Guckian, and Laura & Tim McCarty of Elgin, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Lowell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and cherished by everyone around him. He will be deeply missed but will remain forever in our hearts and thoughts.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Encompass Hospice Care, Lutra Home Care, and Elgin Funeral Home for the loving care given to our father.

He will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, February 18th beginning at 12:00 PM; Family will receive guests from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted at St’ Peter’s Lutheran Church of Elgin, February 19th at 10:00 AM with Pastor Sam Brannon presiding. Interment will be at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery of Pflugerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Elgin Lion’s Club, Relay for Life, or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, in Elgin.
