Betty Ruth Boyd Harper, 92, went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2020 at her home in Elgin, Texas. Betty was born December 18, 1927 in Houston, Tx. to parents Ola Mae Boyd and Alfred B. Boyd.

She grew up in the east end of town, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Class of 1945.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, and her brothers Robert H. Boyd and Arthur B. Boyd.

Betty loved to cook, and was always looking at the hundreds of recipes she had collected over the many years from others who had handed them down to her. I would say the favorite that everyone loved was her spaghetti and meatballs, with her Thanksgiving dressing right there behind it. She was a wonderful cook, and it showed.

She was a loving and caring Mother to her three children Mike Harper, Larry Harper, and Jana Nance.

Also, she was a wonderful Grandma to her eight amazing grandchildren Kim Unger, Julie Smith, Jeff Harper, Jaime Robertson, Jennifer Bishop, Lindsay Giesy, Kelli Nance and Andrew Nance.  And also, to her precious seventeen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She loved being withher family, and cherished all the times she spent with them. We will all miss her greatly.

A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2020 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Houston, Texas and laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Paul’s, with a celebration of life to follow.
