Elgin’s annual celebration of swine returns with three full evenings of entertainment, competition and neighborly communion.Spearheaded by the City of Elgin Main Street Program, the Hogeye Festival draws in county-wide visitors to the “sausage capital of Texas,” as it is proudly stated on Elgin’s welcoming sign.The free, pink-colored affair kicks off with the Hogeye Stroll on Oct. 26, from 5-9 p.m., leading attendees down Main Street through the array of local craft vendors and artists.Those looking to stretch their vocal cords can enter the Hog Calling Contest at 6 p.m., hosted by Smash Daddies food truck.
