Train hits crashed car on MLK Boulevard

A vehicle was hit by a train after hitting a tree and stopping on the railroad tracks last week. Last Monday, August 9, 9-1-1 received a call at about 9:16 a.m. that a Ford Explorer had hit a tree and then stopped on the railroad tracks on Martin Luther King Boulevard near the old cotton gin, according to the Elgin Police Department. The Elgin police officers on the scene found that the vehicle had been southbound on MLK Boulevard when the driver, for unknown reasons, stopped on the railroad tracks.
