A vehicle was hit by a train after hitting a tree and stopping on the railroad tracks last week. Last Monday, August 9, 9-1-1 received a call at about 9:16 a.m. that a Ford Explorer had hit a tree and then stopped on the railroad tracks on Martin Luther King Boulevard near the old cotton gin, according to the Elgin Police Department.
