A 23-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his father turned the gun on himself and died as Bastrop County sheriff deputies searched for him, officials said Thursday.The incident occurred shortly before 1:45 p.m. Dec. 1 at the father’s residence on Zapalac Road just a few miles south of Smithville, investigators said.Sheriff Maurice Cook identified the victim as Michael Kimball, 43, and his son as Colton Kimball.Both died at the scenes where they were found.According to Cook, the younger Kimball apparently entered his father’s residence; the father did not know he was there.Investigators believe the assailant confronted his father and fired ...
