Veterans were honored and local hunger was combated on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Elgin’s Empty Bowl Project.The event, which took place at the SPJST lodge, followed the Veterans Day parade downtown.Attendees purchased tickets for $25, and each sale equated to a free meal for a veteran. All the proceeds went towards the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, supporting the organization’s initiatives to alleviate food insecurity in the area.
