Donor gives thousands towards monument relocation

Including a substantial donation of $10,000, the committee to find a new home for the Confederate monuments at the county courthouse is over halfway to their preliminary fundraising goal. Two monuments with ties to the Confederacy—an obelisk monument dedicated to the Confederate soldiers of Bastrop County and a memorial to Major Joseph Sayers—currently sit on the lawn of the Bastrop County courthouse.
