Cheryl Lee files to run in Bastrop City Council special election

Cheryl Lee, a fourth generation Bastropian, has officially filed to run in the January special election for Bastrop City Council Place 3 to fill the unexpired term of Lyle Nelson, who will be stepping down to run for Bastrop County Judge. Nelson’s announcement leaves the Place 3 seat vacant ahead of the May 2022 election to fill the Place 1 and Place 5 seats.Lee is a currently a Commissioner for the Bastrop Planning and Zoning Commission and gained attention in 2020 as a leader in the community’s successful effort to relocate two Confederate monuments from the Bastrop County Courthouse lawn.
