On Saturday, the Mc-Donalds in Elgin hosted their 25th anniversary event. The event was open to the public and jam-packed with fun activities and prizes.
Children could get autographs, take their picture with Ronald McDonald, and receive McDonald’s stickers and Fun Times magazines. For all ages, the event also included face painting by the Elgin High School cheerleaders, truck tours from the Elgin Fire Department, goodies awarded by the Elgin Police Department and an anniversary cake.
At the celebration, attendees could enter for a chance to win prizes. Those who came to the event also received a free anniversary pin, six-piece nuggets for only 94 cents, and a free two-liter of coke with a required purchase.
The McDonalds in Elgin was established in 1994 by its current owners and operators, Jimmy and Cindi Ferguson. Though the two now own several McDonald’s restaurants in the area, the McDonald’s restaurant on U.S. Highway 290 in Elgin was their first.
