Veterans’ organizations celebrate 100 years with parade

Preparations are underway for the annual Veterans parade slated for Saturday, November 2 at 10 a.m. American Legion Commander John Quagliani said this year marks the 100 anniversaries of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). “The reason we’re doing it the weekend before Veterans’ Day is so that we are not in competition with all the other Veterans’ Day events in the area, and it’s the weekend after Hogeye Festival, so it will generate more traffic through downtown Elgin,” Quagliani said.
