Local Girl Scout donates cookies to teachers

Girl Scout Junior Janelle J. used the money she earned for selling cookies to donate cookies to all the teachers and staff at Elgin Intermediate School. Janelle also made a thank-you card to show her appreciation. "They are also one of the heroes during the pandemic," she said. Janelle is in Elgin Troop 2323 in the Blackland Prairie Service Unit. Girl Scouts learn 5 essential skills by selling cookies: goal-setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and Business Ethics. Girl Scouts sell cookies to earn money for goals they establish and they earn money to benefit their troop, their Service Unit and the Girl Scout Council.
