Library kicks off reading program

Last week was the first of ten monthly sessions at the Elgin Public Library encouraging and teaching parents how to read regularly to their pre-kindergarten children. The program, titled “Read to Me,” was made possible by a grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC), funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services, which was awarded to the library in August. The purpose of the program is to teach parents strategies and activities to help their children learn by reading to them.
