Come on cool weather, come on “soup season,” and come on to Elgin’s Empty Bowl Project!

Mark your calendar now for Saturday, November 16—between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.—and come prepared to sample a large selection of soups, stews and chilies prepared by some of this community’s best chefs.

This annual event showcases their talents as they vie for bragging rights in this “battle of the ladles.” Celebrity judges will tag “bests” in each category, and attendees will vote their fan favorite. Each ticketed attendee will also take home a hand-decorated ceramic soup bowl and the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped three charitable organizations sustain food support to Elginites in need: the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, the Elgin Community Cupboard and the First Baptist Church of Elgin Food Pantry.

Further information and tickets—$20 per person; children 12 and under eat free—are available online at bit.ly/ ElginEmptyBowl2019 or via Facebook (search “Elgin Empty Bowl Project”). Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door on November 16. This year’s Elgin Empty Bowl will take place at the SPJST Lodge, 702 South Highway 95.
