On Wednesday, McDade ISD faculty Donna Stone and Gina Sanders delivered a “senior sweets” bag with candy and cookies, decorated with McDade pride ribbons, to each McDade High School senior.

Last week, McDade ISD installed banners on the front of McDade High School displaying the portraits of the school’s 15 graduating seniors in order to celebrate the Class of 2020.

This year, due to COVID-19 and graduation guidelines f rom the Texas Education Agency, McDade High School’s graduation ceremony this year will be by invitation only, the school district announced last week. However, McDade ISD is providing an opportunity for friends, extended family, faculty, staff and the McDade community as a whole to congratulate the McDade High School Class of 2020. On Thursday, June 4, beginning at 7 p.m., the seniors will drive through downtown McDade with a car parade, led by the McDade Volunteer Fire Department.

The parade route will begin at Faith Lutheran Church on Waco Street, traveling to Old Highway 20 and turning left into downtown McDade, then turning onto Marlin Street and ending the parade at McDade High School. Seniors will be announced in front of the McDade Historical Society.

Parade spectators are invited to position themselves anywhere along the parade route and asked to wear Bulldog red and black. Additionally, parade spectators are asked to keep households six feet apart, wear a face covering and stay home if they do not feel well or have a fever of over 100 degrees.
