Marian Jones passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of January 6, 2022.  Marian was born in Austin, Texas on March 5, 1970, to Bryan and Gail Sullivan and lived on Lake Travis until the age of 5 when her father moved the family to Illinois while he attended the Lutheran seminary.  She then lived in Houston for several years and moved to Elgin, Texas when she was 10 years old.  She graduated from Elgin High School in 1989 and married George Jones soon after.  They were blessed with three children, Christa, Katy, and Michael.  Marian loved little children and very much enjoyed her job at the Elgin School District where she worked as a teacher’s aide.  In addition, she was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and a long-time Sunday School and VBS teacher.  Most of all, she was a very loving mother to her children and was very proud of her grandson, Derek.

Marian is survived by her two children, Christa Jones and Michael Jones, her mother, Gail Sullivan, her sisters, Vicki Dumbeck and Carla Case, her brother, John Sullivan, and her grandson Derek Varble.  She is preceded in death by her father, Pastor Bryan Sullivan and her beloved daughter, Katy.

Marian is most of all a life-long Christian.  She had a childlike faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and an acceptance of her place in God’s family.  Undoubtedly, she is now in Heaven, laughing with Katie and Opa and singing with the angels.

I am Jesus little lamb,

Ever glad at heart I am;

For my Shepherd gently guides me,

Knows my needs and well provides me,

Loves me every day the same,

Even calls me by my name.

A Luncheon was held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, followed by a Visitation and a Celebration of Life at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment followed at Elgin Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
