Nuel Richard Worthey, 86, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was born to Iola and Nuel Preston Worthey, in San Antonio, on July 15, 1934.  Richard spent his early childhood in Houston, until parents moved to Elgin and started the Western Auto Associate Store in 1946.  After graduating from Elgin High School with the Class of ‘51, he attended Texas A&M University, then transferred to Baylor.  Richard eventually left college to help his dad manage the store until 1976, when Richard took over and continued its successful operation until 1987.  Richard loved spending his spare time oil ...
