Wildcats suffer first district loss

​Penalties, missed opportunities and big plays all hurt the Elgin Wildcats in their 28-6 loss to the Belton Tigers last Friday.​The Wildcats’ record fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in district play. The game was much closer than the score would indicate. Some red zone inefficiencies and a few late touchdowns by Belton were the difference makers.  Facing a 7-0 deficit in the first quarter and backed up deep in their own territory, Elgin’s Justin Strong made a spectacular catch off a deflection and ran 87 yards down to the 1-yard line.
