Viola Estelle Daugherty Maynard

Viola Estelle Daugherty Maynard passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord on Monday, November 11, 2019, in Elgin TX. She was born on March 29, 1924 in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Dora Daugherty Landrum and E.D. Daugherty. Viola was born at her home on Salado Street in Austin and graduated from John B. Winn school. She lived her entire life in Austin, and she and Jesse built a home in north Austin soon after their marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Billy Maynard, Sr.; siblings, Maurine, Eugene and Beverly; her two sons, James and Rodney; and her daughter, Cynthia.

She is survived by her son, Billy Maynard and three daughters, Ayn Williams of Austin, Sheila Stark and husband Nate Stark of Austin and Brenda and husband John Rood of Kingwood; two siblings, Wilfred Landrum and Peggy Schuchart; and nine grandchildren as well as many great-grands and several great-greats.

Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate her life in a Memorial Service at the Elgin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16th at 3:00 PM.  Repast will follow at the Firs United Methodist Church of Elgin.  Arrangements and care are entrusted to Elgin Funeral Home.
