Marjorie Laverda Kieschnick Walther
Marjorie “Laverda” Kieschnick Walther at the age of 92 years, passed away in her sleep on May 20, 2022. She was born on the family farm near Thorndale, Texas, on December 29, 1929. Last year, she relocated back to the area and has been living at SPJST in Taylor. Marjorie was baptized in her home on January 19, 1930, by Pastor F. H. Stelzer. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Thorndale and was confirmed on April 18, 1943. Her confirmation verse was John 11:25-26, Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die”.
March 8, 1947, Pastor Stelzer married Harold Leroy Walther and Marjorie. After 64 years of matrimony, on May 1, 2011, Harold passed away. Since that day, she prayed for the Lord to reunite them in heaven. Marjorie was the youngest of 6 daughters born to Ernst and Clara Moerbe Kieschnick. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Helen Patschke, Allyne Leschber, Alvera Leschber, Gladys Merkord, and the infant Alvadine.
Marjorie lived her life in Texas and was devoted to loving and caring for Harold and their 3 precious sons. She leaves behind: son Jimmy Ray Walther and wife Margie; granddaughter Jennifer and husband Ryan Ackels, great grandson Camden, great granddaughter Molly; granddaughter Stefani and husband Brett Burris, great grandson Hudson; son Michael Dean Walther and his wife Steffani; son John David Walther and wife Michele; grandson David and wife Madison, great granddaughter Alison; grandson Jonathan and wife Michal, great granddaughter Saoirse, great grandson Elliot; granddaughter Christina and husband Mark Sayre; and grandson Nathan.
Marjorie created a homelife anchored with Christian values. Attending weekly church services, Sunday School, annual Easter sunrise, and Christmas Eve worship was never an option. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and serving as an officer in the LWML. Animals were her other passion and many folks remember visiting her bunnies that lived in the yard. Children would often ring her doorbell and she would let them play with the bunnies and call her the Bunny Lady. Her friends and family fondly remember her as Laverda or Dotsie. She volunteered at the Public Library, Meals for Wheels, and early on was secretary for Taylor Elementary School.
One of God’s given talents was her baking. Favorites were german chocolate cake, Granny Kieschnick white cookies, banana cake, and dewberry pie. After her baking days ended, she would never be found without oreo cookies and milky way bars.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to consider making a memorial donation in Marjorie’s honor to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund. They also want to thank all the loving workers at SPJST that cared for her, and everyone that visited her recently to give her a hug.
A visitation for Marjorie will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, TX. A burial will occur Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Thorndale, TX. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale, TX.
