Joseph “Joe” McKamie, 86, was born Feb. 18, 1937, to Joseph Owen and Juanita (Stovall) McKamie in McClendon County. He grew up in the small town of Eddy, where he attended Bruceville-Eddy Schools.

Joe and his wife Sherry (Shannon) had three children, Michael Wayne, Sherri Lynn and Gregory Joe.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. His passion was his work, he worked in the transportation industry for various bus companies for 50 years. Most of those years were spent with Kerrville Bus Line. He was also a homebuilder and loved to golf in his free time.

Joe was a Mason and Past Master of Buda Lodge No. 800 for 50 years.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Juanita; wife, Sherry; and children, Michael Wayne, Sherri Lynn and Gregory Joe. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Kenneth, Mary and Faye.

Joe is survived by his son-in-law, Bob Seiford; grandson, Christian Seiford; sisters, Peggy Murrin, Pat (Ernie) Cook, Linda Sue (Bob), Cindy (Tim); and brother, John (Shirley).

“Your work on Earth is complete. You are now driving angels and working on that spiritual building in Heaven. Thank you for always being there for me and others and always being willing to help. I hope I did the same. Until then, God bless you.”

- Your brother, John A visitation for Joe McKamie will be held Friday, June 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin.

A graveside service will be Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Cook-Walden Forrest Oaks, 6300 W William Cannon Dr. in Austin.
