Dorothy Mae Ginsel (nee Smith), born April 4, 1920 passed away Thursday November 7, 2019 age 99 years, 7 months and 3 days. Born near Giddings, Texas in Lee county she is survived by her three children, Gilda, Stan and Mark; her sister, Stella; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Dorothy was a treasure to know and dedicated to her family. She was truly a refined country gal with numerous talents and her love of family and friends could only be equaled by her love of music and singing. Her voice was angelic and natural. She taught herself to play piano and encouraged her children to follow their musical passion, supporting them when some parents might say “put that guitar down and get a job!”. Dorothy was amusing and laid back, unless you brought trouble to her nest. Perhaps her greatest achievement was how often she was considered “my second mom” by so many who adored her. She will be missed but never forgotten. Sail on sweet angel, you’ve kept heaven waiting long enough.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at the Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, November 15th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16th at 11:00 AM with the Reverend, Roddy Clyde presiding. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Elgin Funeral Home.
