Daniel Calvit Smith Jr.

Daniel “Cowboy” Calvit Smith, Jr., 52, was reunited with Jesus, Saturday night, December 28, 2019. Daniel was born in Kermit, Texas, the second of three children to Peggy and Daniel Smith on October 23, 1967. Daniel enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends. Daniel worked hard as a handyman and would often go the extra mile to help anyone. He was a volunteer firefighter with Elgin Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and served as the Assistant Chief.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Smith Sr.; his step-father, Glenn Nolan; and his grandson, Goose Williams

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Rhonda; his mother, Peggy Nolan; his sister, Coby and husband Marvin Sheward; his brother, David Smith; his seven children, Angel and husband Tim Hilton, Sonya Robles, Ben Smith, Scotty Williams and wife Angel, Matthew Williams and wife Macy, Caleb Walker, and Scott Smith; his seven grandchildren, Sierra Hilton, Lane Robles, Brodie Hilton, Ellie Walker, Dominic Williams, Maverick Williams, and Ariana Williams; nieces and nephews, Christopher Manson, Nicole Chamberlain, CJ Chamberlain, Tiffany Freeman, and Kameron Sheward and wife Sara; great-nieces and great-nephews, Aurora, Victor, David, Lily, Jackson, Koby, and Kayden; and many dear friends. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Papa, Uncle and most of all, Cowboy was a friend.

Family and Friends will gather at the Elgin Funeral Home for visitation on Thursday, January 2nd from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at the family residence on Saturday, January 11th beginning at 2:00 PM. All are welcome to bring a chair to sit while enjoying Bar-B-Q and a beer with the family as they celebrate Cowboy’s life.Reunited with Jesus December 28, 2019.
