The Elgin Farmer’s Market is back in business, starting with a run during last week’s Sip, Shop & Stroll. Despite a grim forecast of intense storms, the rain stayed away enough for plenty of people to visit downtown last Thursday evening, and the farmer’s market, located in front of the Elgin Depot Museum, drew its own crowd.

The market offered a variety of goods available for sale, from fabric crafts to live plants and, of course, fresh vegetables.

This spring, interest grew in bringing back the Elgin Farmer’s Market, and those interested met earlier this month to plan Thursday’s market. The farmer’s market organization will hold another meeting on Wednesday evening, and Eileen Niswander of Yegua Creek Farms said they plan to make the market a regular occurrence.
