Article Image Alt Text

What made you want to run for this position?

I have served on the board for the last nine years. It's the love of the district, students and staff that makes me want to continue to be involved in the future and growth in our school district.

What kind of experience - educational, professional or personal - do you bring to this position?

Some of my experience has been the last nine years on the BISD board. My experience has also come from being in business, working within a company, budgets, deadlines, working with staff and company growth. I also volunteer my time with the Bastrop Education Fountain and was one of the leaders to start the Sportsman's Banquet that gives to BISD.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Bastrop ISD?

Managing the fast growth in our schools. We continually need more space. The teacher shortage is a big factor. We need to be able to attract and retain staff in our schools.

How do you expect Bastrop ISD to adapt as Bastrop County’s population grows? Where do you see the city in five years?

We need to be able to adapt to the growth. We must engage in moving forward. Working with the bond money to complete the projects that we have scheduled.

What is the accomplishment you are most proud of during your time in office?

The pandemic challenges were difficult to adjust to for everyone. Being able to work with such an incredible staff of educators at the district we were able to open the schools faster and get students back on track sooner to continue their education.

Why should the voters choose you? What sets you apart from your opponent?

I have the nine years experience of being on the Bastrop School Board. I was involved with the school even before being on the board. My wife is part of the district, my kids went to and still go to school here. I have invested time and made a commitment to the school to make a difference. I want to continue to be part of the decision making process to help the district move forward toward their future goals.

Any other information you would like to share with voters?

I really appreciate the voters support. I do value the time I have served on the school board. I ask that you see fit to send me back on the board. I am the right choice and I want your vote.
