BASTROP — Bastrop Police Department Officers were dispatched near Fisherman’s Park March 24, responding to reports of an unresponsive adult man in the water.Upon initial investigation, officers on site discovered that the individual’s son was struggling in the water when he jumped in to assist them, according to Chief of Police Vicky Steffanic.“The son was rescued, however, the adult male was later declared deceased,” said Steffanic in a press release.Several officers arrived on scene with mutual aid from Bastrop Fire Department and the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.The identity of the deceased has not been released, and notification of next of ...
