A nine-run fourth by the Tigers wrapped up the win last Tuesday.
Leading 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Smithville offense came to life, blowing up the scoreboard for nine runs to grab the win via 10-run rule on Tuesday against the visiting LBJ Jaguars.
Runs five and six came across in the fourth by way of a Reid Pruitt bunt that scored Cameron Dawson and Kyle Pietsch.
After Gabriel Maldonado reached after being hit by a pitch, run number seven came across in the form of Pruitt after Wyatt Smith reached on an error play at first base. The score put Smithville up 7-3.
Melvin Evans then singled to right field, driving runs eight and nine for the Tigers. Evans eventually came home via an error by the pitcher on Braxton Hendrix’s bunt attempt.
Up 10-3, Fischer Prosise was hit by a pitch as Hendrix advanced on a wild pitch.
After a walk to Jackson Hancock, Prosise and Hendrix both came in. Two plays later, Dawson would come across as the final run of the game, sealing the win for Tigers.
The Tigers were again in action April 6 at home against Manor New Tech.
