Smithville loses in Navarro rematch

Smithville’s record dropped to 1-2 after being narrowly defeated by Navarro, 28-21. The Tigers hoped to avenge their playoff loss from last season against Navarro where they lost 45-35. Unfortunately, they were edged out yet again in a battle between two solid football teams.  The Tigers got off to a fiery start. Quarterback Derrick Roberson found leading receiver Tyson Hancock on a slant route over the middle, gashing through the middle of Navarro’s defense for a 71 yard touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.
