Ross qualifies for state in discus

HUMBLE – Elgin senior Shanice Ross finished second in the girls discus at the Class 5A, Region III track and field meet Saturday to qualify for state. Ross punched her ticket with a throw of 122 feet, 8 inches. Shadow Creek’s Morgan Shelton (124-08) won the event. The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the UIL state meet May 10-11 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
