The Elgin Middle School boys polished off 2019 in a sparkling fashion over the Buffalos of Giddings. Led by coaches Aaron Griffin, Travis Early, Dustin Maedgen and Corey Bullard, they have simply been dominant in almost every game this season. The players employ an assertive defense and an aggressive offense to confound and overpower their opponents.
Against Giddings, the 7th grade B team won 51-6, making their season record 4-0. The 7th grade A team won a harder-fought 34-22 victory, improving their record to 3-1.
The 8th grade B team completely ran over Giddings’ young team 72-8. Aden Perkins led the scoring with 30 points, while the team raised their record to 4-0. The A team saw all 10 players on their roster score, led by Bradley Rodriguez and Nathen Lewis, who both scored 18 points. The final score of 67-17 boosted their season record to 3-1.
All four of the boys’ teams return to action on January 11 at the Central Texas Showdown tournament at Texas State University. The boys are looking forward to seeing some of the best talent in the area at this tournament.
