Coming off their win against the Lady Eagles of Cedar Creek on Friday, January 31, the Lady Cats faced the Hutto Hippos and East View Patriots last week.

On Tuesday, February 4, they traveled to Hutto to face the Lady Hippos, and despite a good effort, lost 58-35, leaving them with a 1-9 district record.

The Lady Cats hosted the East View Patriots on Friday evening, which was also Parent/Senior night. Each player’s family was acknowledged, and a special note about after-high school plans was read aloud for the three senior team members—Ashanti McGriff (#14), AJ Thompson (#35) and Kel Holiday (#44)—who are playing their last season as Lady Cats.

Starters for this game included all three seniors, plus sophomore Tasha Stafford (#23) and junior Anaya Freeman (#32), with Freeman, a.k.a. Slim, winning the tip-off. Tianna Upton (#22) got the call to move up to varsity this week.

East View, which has had an amazing season, including beating their school district rival, Georgetown, for the first time since East View opened in 2008, were able to defeat the Lady Cats with a final score of 52-26. Elgin is 1-10 in district and sixth in the standings.

They played their final game on Tuesday, February 11 in Bastrop against the Lady Bears, who are in third place with a 7-4 record.
