The Lady Cats had a rough first week back from the holiday break losing to the Cedar Creek Eagles and Hutto Hippos.

On Tuesday, January 7, the Lady Cats met the Lady Eagles on their home court in Cedar Creek. The Wildcats kept the score close in the first and second quarters, but Cedar Creek was ahead at the end of each. In the third, Elgin outshot the Lady Eagles eight points to four and were ahead 16-13 going in to the fourth quarter, but Cedar Creek battled back and pulled out the win 33-29.

On Saturday, January 11, the Lady Cats met the Hutto Hippos in Elgin for a game that had been rescheduled from the night before due to bad weather. The Lady Hippos came out strong and ended the first quarter in the lead 21-11. While the Lady Cats adjusted their game to try to compensate for Hutto’s aggressive play, they could not slow down the Hutto offense and they were ahead 32-19 at the end of the second quarter and 47-25 at the end of the third. Hutto continued on to defeat the Lady Cats 59-32.

The Lady Cats head into this week’s schedule 3-20 overall and 0-4 in district. They will meet the Eastview Patriots in Georgetown (18-4, 3-1 in district) on Tuesday, January 14 at 7 p.m.
