Pflugerville high schools Weiss and Connally, both probably playoff-bound, had their way against the Lady Cats (2-11) in the next-to-last week of the season.

Elgin travelled to take on the Lady Wolves of Weiss High School on Tuesday, November 3, where the home team had little problem in handing Elgin a three-set loss, 25-8, 25-18 and 25-15.

On Friday, November 6, the Lady Cougars (11-7) came to play the Lady Cats in their last home match. The night went well for Connally, as they beat the Lady Cats in three straight sets 25-19, 25-9 and 25-19.

The Elgin junior varsity continued their strong season, beating Connally JV in two straight sets.

This was also Senior Night for Elgin, where the five 2020 seniors were honored by their parents, teammates and fans. Head Coach Deborah Covault had this to say about her seniors:

  • Emma Neidig: "Absolutely one of the most positive athletes I have ever coached. Her hustle and positive attitude is amazing and a great pick up for the team."
  • Anna Navarro: "is such an excellent setter. She has such a big push, plus being strong and accurate."
  • Kirsten Gonzales: "she has overcome so much in her career. She was a starter as a sophomore before hurting her knee the next year. She has been most effective in the middle and her volleyball IQ is outstanding, plus she always kept the mood upbeat and light."
  • Makiah Grant: "is probably the most versatile player on the team. She can excel in the back or the front of the formations, so she can play all game if needed. Her attitude is phenomenal."
  • Morgan Heine: "plays an outstanding outside position. She has really developed her swing and played very powerful, especially her kills and digs and was a leader on the team."

The Lady Cats take on the host Lady Bears of Bastrop on Tuesday, November 10 before finishing out the season travelling to Pflugerville to play the Lady Hawks of Hendrickson on Friday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m.
