It was a tough week at home for Lady Cats basketball with losses to the Temple Wildcats and the LBJ Jaguars.
On Tuesday, November 19, they fell to the Lady Wildcats of Temple. Elgin starters were Ashanti Mc-Griff (#14), Kerrington Holiday (#44), Anaya Freeman (#32), Alyssa Broderick (#1) and Tasha Stafford (#23). The Lady Cats could not get ahead of the Temple Wildcats and struggled throughout the game, falling behind in the first, second and third quarters. In the fourth quarter, they mounted an offensive, outscoring Temple 13-6, but Temple still pulled off the win 52-32 and left the Lady Cats with an 0-4 record.
Elgin then faced the Lady Jaguars of Lyndon B. Johnson High School on Friday. The Lady Cats faired much better against the Jaguars, ending the first quarter tied and outscoring by five points in the second. LBJ had a massive third quarter, scoring 18 points and ending the third quarter ahead 38-29. Elgin outscored the Jaguars in the fourth, but it wasn’t quite enough for the win and the Jaguars won 44-40.
The Lady Cats have two non-conference this week during the Thanksgiving break. Their first district game is Tuesday, December 17 in Georgetown against the Lady Eagles.
