Kaitlyn Barrington got busy on the basepaths on Thursday, collecting four hits in the Lady Bears 9-4 victory over Hendrickson.

The Lady Bears jumped ahead with two outs in the first inning on Barrington’s solo shot over right field.

The Hawks would tie the game at 1-1 in their opening half of the inning but failed to take control.

In the second, Bastrop grabbed two more runs via Kailee Sullivan and Abby Abraham, who came around after hitting back-to-back singles to open the inning.

In the bottom of the third, Hendrickson gained ground, scoring once to bring the game to within one at 3-2.

The Lady Bears matched the one run, adding one of their own in the top of the fourth. Mariah Moore doubled to lead off the inning, and a single by Abraham moved her to third. A Shelby Downey brought Moore home, pushing the Bastrop lead to 4-2.

Bastrop added another pair of runs to go up to 6-2 on scores by Kaitlyn Barrington and Christina Salinas.

Three more runs came in for the Lady Bears in their half of the sixth, all with no outs. Melody Beck singled up the middle to drive in Aleah Stahli. Then Moore singled to center, driving in Barrington and Salinas to put the contest out of reach at 9-2.

Hendrickson would add a pair of runs in the sixth, but the Lady Bears had all already wrapped up the game.

Moving to 5-11 on the season, Bastrop will be in action again on Tuesday at home against Weiss.
