Senior Bella Lippke takes a swing at the Lampasas tournament.

The boys' and girls' varsity golf teams improved upon last week’s performance at Lampasas, according to coach Matt Foehner. The teams played in the Taylor Duck Invitational at Mustang Creek on separate days.

The boys played on Monday, February 3. Sophomores Alec Horn and Wyatt Fisher scored 106 and 107 respectively, improving upon their scores from the previous week.

The girls' tournament was on Thursday, February 6, and the scores were as follows:

  • Bella Lippke: 96
  • Taylor Van Buskirk: 97
  • Bethany Smith: 102
  • Jyra Thurmond: 109
  • Campbell Littlefield: 134
  • Abby King: 140

Despite the colder weather and 15 to 20 mile per hour winds, the Lady Cats placed fourth in the 12-team field. Senior Bella Lippke and junior Taylor Van Buskirk anchored the team with almost identical scores, sophomore Bethany Smith and senior Jyra Thurmond posted their best scores so far, and freshmen newcomers Campbell Littlefield and Abby King had impressive showings in their first high school tournaments.

Wildcat golf traveled to Round Rock on Tuesday, February 11 for the Teravista Golf Tournament.
