Crafts shuts out Manor

Gracy Crafts threw a complete-game shutout to lead the Elgin softball team to a 9-0 victory over Manor last Tuesday.

Crafts went seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out 11.

Morgan Heine, Hannah Reiley and Alexis Cathey all collected multiple hits for the Lady Cats, who finished with 10 on the night.

Heine went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Cathey and Reiley finished 2-for-3 and 2-for-4, respectively.

Kiana Gibson also had a productive night at the plate, hitting a fourth-inning home run as part of a 1-for-3 performance.

Later in the week, Crafts threw another complete-game shutout as Elgin drubbed Cedar Creek 9-0 on Friday. She allowed only one hit and zero runs while striking out 14 and walking one. See page 7A for the full story.

The Lady Cats (12-7, 3-0 District 18-5A) visited Hutto on Tuesday. They will host East View on Friday at 7 p.m.
