The Tigers’ threat of stealing the district from Giddings last Tuesday came up big-time short. The Buffs routed the Tigers 13-0, surrendering just two hits to the Tigers. Tyson Hancock and Cooper Helmcamp collected Smithville’s only two hits of the game, both singles. On the upside, the loss does not hurt the Tigers’ playoff chances. They currently hold the second-place spot in district 20-4A with a district record of 7-2 and 13-11 overall. The Tigers were scheduled to face the Buffs once more on April 30 in Giddings. ...
