Bears miss out on playoff-clinching opportunity

​The Bastrop Bears squandered a chance to punch their ticket to the playoffs by losing 35-31 to the Lockhart Lions.​Running back Demire Thompson powered his way into the endzone to give the Bears a 31-14 lead near the end of the third quarter. Lockhart then scored 21 unanswered points as Ashton Dickens and Sean McKinney continually gashed the Bears’ defense in the ground game.​A 44-yard run by Thompson set the Bears up with a final opportunity to score before the end of regulation.
