Sewing group provided masks to Advocacy Outreach

Posted in:

I appreciated your recent coverage of an exceptional local project, the creation and distribution of face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID19. Ada Castle, as representative of the sewing group from First Presbyterian Church of Elgin, has reached out to Advocacy Outreach a number of times during this pandemic crisis and has provided dozens of masks to the staff and the low-income community served by Advocacy Outreach. One of the distributions was for the youngsters in our Family Literacy program and the masks, which they will need when they are able to attend classes in person and when accompanying their parents on shopping trips, were made of playful and colorful fabrics. The children were so pleased to have the appealing masks in sizes that fit them comfortably. The staff of Advocacy Outreach are grateful to this sewing group and we also thank the Courier for recognizing their contribution to our community.
