I was saddened to read about the Christmas parade held in McDade this year. Every year since the birth of my first great grandchild (she is now 10), I have taken the grandchildren to the parade. It was a joyous occasion followed by some sort of refreshment. I am now 81 years old and look forward to these times. I moved to Elgin three years ago to be closer to these small town events. I know we have covid, but notice there are other events occurring this holiday season in downtown Elgin. I do not understand why Elgin could not host a parade this year ...
