Stafford O’Neal

Stafford O’Neal passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021, in Austin Texas after 75 wonderful years.

Stafford was born in Fairfield, North Carolina on October 24, 1945, to Norther Lee O’Neal and Queenie Mecola Armstrong O’Neal.

After growing up in the farming community of Hyde County, Stafford enlisted in the United States Army and deployed to Vietnam where he served his country. Near the end of Stafford’s enlistment, he was stationed at Fort Hood where he met his wife, Daphne Ann Gardner. After marrying, Stafford and Daphne moved to Austin where they worked and raised their family. A home in Elgin, Texas is where the couple found their final residence and it is here where they spent many happy years gardening, cooking, and enjoying rural Texas with their family.

Stafford is survived by his two sons, Larry and Walter O’Neal, five grandchildren, Justin, Brooke, Troy, Austin, and Blake O’Neal, one great grandson, Bradley O’Neal, and two brothers, Basil and Earl O’Neal.

He is preceded in death by his parents and Daphne O’Neal, his wife of 49 years.

Services will be private.
