Rosemary Eicholz Meredith 94, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2021, at The Hospice of East Texas facility in Tyler, Texas from complications of pneumonia and lung cancer.  She was born August 11, 1927, in Holland, Texas to parents, Adalee Singleton Eicholz and Alvin Carl Eicholz, and later blessed with stepfather, Herbert H Huffaker.  Rosemary grew up in Galveston during the 30’s and 40’s graduating from Ball High School in 1945. She attended one year at Abilene Christian College and then transferred to the University of Texas where she met and married Ross Meredith. They moved to Elgin, Texas in 1951 where Ross was the first full time minister at the Church of Christ.  In 1960, Ross joined the law partnership of Webb and Webb resulting in a practice and a friendship that lasted for decades. Rosemary lived in Elgin for nearly 70 years.

Rosemary loved to travel. She had been to England 7 times and would have gone back anytime if physically possible. She had been to every state, Europe several times, and had flown over the Artic Circle in a twin-engine plane. The last trip she took was with all her girls, including an unborn great granddaughter, to The Cotswolds in England in 2013, at age 86.

Rosemary was an artist.  She painted and created in a variety of medium all her life. Generations of kids will remember her Father Christmas that stood in the window at her house every Christmas. She loved making hand painted ornaments at Christmas and at Easter. She loved to cook and entertain.

A special acknowledgement to The Coffee Bunch ladies that met every day for years at the Sonic to drink coffee and be together. This band of women formed a tight and loving bond that will never be broken.

Rosemary was a faithful Christian all her life.  She attended the Elgin Church of Christ from 1951 to 2020 when she moved to Athens, Texas to be in assisted living, and then attended Eastern Hills Church of Christ when she was able.

Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Anne Meredith Ford and husband Adrian Ford of Bellville, three grandchildren, Katie Ford and Rick Wooten of Nashville Tenn., Lauren Ford of Houston, JR Ford and wife Kaylie of Fort Worth, four great grandchildren, Annabelle Ford, ClaraCate Ford, Hayes Ford, and Everett Ford also of Fort Worth.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elgin Church of Christ on Saturday, October 30 at 2:00 pm.

Arrangements entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
