Michelle “Missy” Lynn McMurtray

Michelle “Missy” Lynn McMurtray, age 54, of Elgin, passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Oct. 20, 2022. Missy was born on Sept. 10, 1968, in Arlington to Albert Justin Sr. and Lillie Mae (Kizer) Kaska.

On May 9, 1987, Missy married the love of her life, Thomas John McMurtray. They had three children, Nicole Lynn McMurtray, Megan Leigh McMurtray and Thomas John McMurtray Jr.

Missy worked at Elgin Breeding Service for 19 years and then went to work as a systems analyst for the state of Texas. Missy loved going to the beach, crafting, traveling, shopping, playing with her puppies and, most importantly, spending time with her family.

Missy is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Tom McMurtray; her three children, Nikki, Megan and Tommy McMurtray; her eight grandchildren; her brother, Albert Justin Kaska Jr.; and several “adopted” children that she loved as her own.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Elgin Cemetery.
