Mary Bryan

Mary Bryan, 96, passed away peacefully August 4, 2019 at Cedar Pointe Nursing Home in Cedar Park, where she lived for the past several years. Mary Bell Scott was born the fourth of seven children to Harvey and Carrie Scott on February 3, 1923 in Elgin, Texas. She married Woodrow Wilson Bryan on August 3, 1941.

Mary loved to travel and spent many summer vacations on road trips across the country with her husband Wilson, her three daughters, and her sister, Lucille and her husband, Emil Bahn. She also enjoyed fishing trips, the Atlanta Braves baseball, and Bluegrass music festivals. She will be greatly missed by her family and hundreds of former Austin children she cared for at the nursery she and her husband ran for many years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilson; her sisters, Dixie Wilson, Lucille Jones, and Ruth Ell Bennett; her brother, Ollie Scott; and her son-in-law Bruce Hagen.

She is survived by her three daughters, Pat and husband Lee Jackson, Jean and husband Doug Lackey, and Penny Hagen; her five grandchildren, Brian Jackson and wife Kristi, Amy and husband Grady Bruce, Brett Jackson and wife Lori, Scott Lackey and fiancé Jill, and Allison Hagen and boyfriend Chris Carlson; her 10 great-grandchildren, Luke Jackson, Keller Jackson, Lyla Kate Jackson, Jackson Bruce, Elayna Bruce, Jessica Bruce, Breanne Jackson, Tate Jackson, Laci Jackson, and Isabelle Jackson; and her two sisters, Jewel Anderson and Alma Ries.

Family and friends will gather at the Elgin Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 7th with a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements and care are entrusted to Elgin Funeral Home.
