Margaret Ann Johnson was our much-loved sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend and she will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. A lifelong resident of Elgin, Margaret died on June 1, 2022 at the age of 77.  Margaret was born on October 28,1944 to Arville and Beth Johnson. A tomboy at heart, she played baseball with the boys as a kid and had a good throwing arm. As she grew up, she continued to love baseball and became a season ticket holder for UT baseball and football, faithfully attending home games with her mom. She worked as a supervisor at the State Comptroller’s office for 39 years and retired in 2003.

Margaret was always a dog lover and gave donations regularly to animal shelters. She loved walking her dog Marty in the neighborhood every day, visiting their friends along the way. She was fun to be with, had a dry sense of humor, and loved celebrating family over Mexican food and margaritas. She enjoyed classic rock, great movies, Peanuts comics, and spoiling all of her nieces and nephews.  She was her mother’s caregiver during her final years and was deeply devoted to her whole family, sharing her love and attention with us all.

She is survived by her siblings: Wayne and Donna Johnson of Missouri City, Floyd and Lynn Johnson of Elgin, and Mary Beth and Tony Scott of Southlake; her nieces and nephews: Becky and Larry Hamilton, Michael Johnson, Shelley and Mike Pinkerton, Mark Johnson and Omar Umayam, Robert Johnson, Sarah Scott, Caroline Scott, Meredith, Austin, Luke, and Madeline Griffin, Jeffrey and Hadley Johnson, Kristin Johnson, Allison and Trevor Andrews; Jonathan Hamilton, Calum Hamilton, Kathryn, Jon, and Easton Weiler; as well as aunts, Dolores Johnson and Wyonda Johnson, and cousins Teri, Brian, Paige, and Lauren Vicknair and numerous other beloved cousins and their families.

She leaves behind wonderful friends: Ana Marie and Everett Simmons, Martha Derrick, Pam and Bobby Hicks, Melinda Horan, Rockne Foster, and Paul Mogonye. The family wishes to give special thanks to her neighborhood friends that loved her like family and brought joy to her daily life: Tracey and Eric Simmons, Frank and Theresa Smith, Tres and Sherri Rivers, and Jana and Larry Nance. Your love and help during her illness will never be forgotten and we are forever grateful.

Family and friends will gather at the Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, June 3rd from 6-8pm. The funeral service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home on Saturday, June 4th at 2:00 PM with interment following at the Elgin Cemetery. Dress casual in bright colors please. Everyone is invited to join the family for refreshments at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall following services.
