Lysle Jack Guyer

Lysle (Jack) Guyer, 91, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2022 at his home in Elgin, Texas. Jack was born in Pampa, Texas on March 19, 1931 where he lived until moving to Waynoka, Oklahoma and subsequently to Caldwell, Kansas. After graduating from high school in Caldwell, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950.

Jack married Catherine Louise Kern on September 2, 1951. They were married for 70 years and had one daughter, Kim Morgan.

Upon his discharge, Jack and Louise moved to Austin, Texas for Jack to attend the Engineering School at the University of Texas. Jack worked for Astro Mechanics designing and building telescopes for many years before working and retiring from UT’s Applied Research Laboratory.

Jack and Louise moved to Elgin, Texas in 1993 to enjoy their retirement years in the country. Jack was an avid pilot and amateur race car driver. He was loyal, honest, and loved his family very much.

Jack is survived by his wife, Louise, daughter, Kim (Jon) Morgan, as well as grandchildren, Blake (Victoria) Morgan and Emily (Michael) Tompkins, and eight great grandchildren, Blair, Brooke, Barrett, and Belle Morgan, and Jack, Ella, Luke, and Henry Tompkins.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 205 W. 2nd St., Elgin, Texas 78621.
