On Thursday, October 17, 2019, Lydia Pierce Quintanilla, loving mother and grandmother, went to meet her heavenly father at the age of 77. Lydia was born on October 10, 1942 in McQueeney, TX to Martin and Frances Pierce. At the age of 17 she met Pedro Quintanilla. The two fell in love and were married. They raised one daughter together until his death in 1980.

Lydia enjoyed spending time laughing and joking with family. But she also had a playful sense of humor with everyone she interacted with, especially her doctors and nurses.

The most important things in Lydia’s life were her daughter, grandson, and two dogs.

Lydia enjoyed tending to her many plants. She liked cooking for family and made the best cornbread dressing and potato salad. Everyone looked forward to her oatmeal cookies at Christmastime.

Lydia was a spiritual person and had a deep faith in God that gave her strength through many tough times in her life.

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Frances Pierce and her first husband Pedro Quintanilla, Jr.

Lydia is survived by her daughter Yvette; grandson Christian; siblings Martin Pierce Jr, Bertha Martinez, Velia Sandoval, Nancy Pierce, and Frank Pierce; spouse Jose Martinez; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and dogs Tinkerbell and Jack.
