On Monday, July 8, 2019, Dora “Granny” Fogg, 94, from Elgin, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was an absolute light to all of those that she met and will be deeply missed. A woman of strong faith, she was a prayer warrior that would live out the scripture of worry about nothing, but pray about everything. Her love of church and family ran deep throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Hornsby Bend Assembly of God. Dora was born to Nath and Thana Meredith near Manor, TX on December 11, 1924. She grew up with 13 brothers and sisters. Dora attended Hornsby Dunlap School and either walked, rode a horse or a wagon to school and church until she married in 1943 to Ezekiel Ira Fogg and raised 6 children, Mary Ellen, Charles Arthur, Leonard Vance, Leroy Franklin, Thana LaVerne, and Larry Dale. Dora worked in food service for most of her life. She served on the culinary staff for the Governor of Texas. After moving to Spokane, WA she worked at Holy Family Hospital and Colfax Memorial Hospital. The couple returned to Texas in 1979 where she worked for the State of Texas until her retirement. At age 72, she returned to work as a greeter at Walmart in Austin, TX. At church she organized and operated the Hornsby Bend food bank, serving scores of local families. She served as the women’s ministry and missions leader. One of her favorite local events was to participate in the Christmas parade. Dora will be dearly missed by her family and loved ones. She is survived by her sons Leonard Fogg (74, Soperton, GA), Leroy Fogg (73, Soperton GA), Thana Carr (69, Battle Ground, WA), Larry Fogg (63, Post Falls, ID), 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
